Happy Advent. Though I am usually an Advent snob, this year I am forgoing my advent wreath fetish for something new: the Jesse Tree.
Apparently I am the only one of my siblings who remembers the 2 years my mother lead us through the Jesse Tree. Really all I remember is coloring Joseph's Coat-of-many-Colors. So clearly it is a meaningful activity that warrants my free time.
In any case, I spent most of last month sewing symbols and writing an Advent Wreath Guide for my 3 Godchildren. (Make a note: Choose a DRE for a Godparent. Those people don't mess around.) Despite the oh, 4 years I spent in seminary, I had managed to forget most of the Hebrew scriptures, so it was a nice refresher. If you don't remember who Rebekah was the mother of, or who the heck was Samuel, I suggest you hang around for the next month.
I plan post a scripture reflection each day for December, and provided that I find my camera, a picture of the ornament I am using for the tree. We'll see how that goes.
See you tomorrow!
Oh- PS- if you'd like a copy of the Jesse Tree Curriculum that I wrote for 4-8 year olds, post a note below or send me an email and I'd be happy to send it to you!

Could I please have a copy of your Jess Tree to share with my preschool coworkers?

Pierre Lebon Elanga and the emaciated CRTV viewers were not trusted with the ability to handle the truth. What truth? According to our inside sources, influential Biya zealots feared that a loss and disqualifier on national television would not only cause disenchantment of fans but ignite a popular uprising against their dictator in the 2011 presidential election.
